Guardian

Ad Litem Appointments

In New Jersey, a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is appointed by the court or agreed upon by the parents in complex or high-conflict custody cases to act as an independent investigator and advocate for the child's best interests, not for either parent. They are typically used when there are allegations of abuse, neglect, severe parental alienation, or when parents cannot agree on critical decisions.

Dennigan Cahill Smith attorneys are experienced in GAL work. Please contact us to find out more if this might apply to your circumstances.
